Collections Management Database Manager Intern
Project Summary
Assist the collections database manager with preparation of archaeology catalog spreadsheets for import into the collections database.

- Experience working with MS Excel and a strong interest in working with spreadsheets and museum data.
- A familiarity with archaeology catalog data.
- Basic knowledge of museum collections management.
- The intern will work to quality check and manipulate catalog data using Excel formulas and check data against the Getty’s AAT. They will assemble catalogs and prepare them for import by matching fields in the spreadsheet with fields in the collections management database.
- Assist other staff in Collections Management, as needed.
- Experience working with a widely used relational database designed to manage museum collections.
- An understanding of the role of data standards and controlled vocabularies in collections management.
- Enhanced knowledge of Excel functions.
- A general familiarity with data management for all collection types at MNHS.
- Exposure to the overall structure and operations of a large history museum.
